LMA GUITAR DUO has been formed in 1996 by two guitarists Vladimir Persan and Elshan Ahmad in Baku, Azerbaijan. Alma recognized as pre-eminent guitar duet, they have composed and performed music for international and Royal events. The musicians started their experience in different bands as rock guitarists in the end of 80’s. Common practices of them as rock-band started in early 90’s. The band called “Argentum” had become popular in a short time. They had been invited to several international rock festivals where they performed with success. At the same time Vladimir Persan and Elshan Ahmad started their works in acoustic guitar music. First album of “Argentum” “The acoustic and electric practices” issued in spring 1996 contained as a rock compositions as original guitar pieces. After that Vladimir Persan and Elshan Ahmad begun to play only instrumental guitar music included gypsy, pop and classic pieces. Representing Azerbaijan as guitar duo they also took part in many guitar festivals and competitions. Among the rest they got honorary title of permanent members of the Kirikkale University of Culture in Ankara, Turkey. Vladimir Persan and Elshan Ahmad use in their music elements of different styles to create a unique genre of fusion music. That is not obvious Spanish or gypsy music as it seems at first sight. Trying to get a difference they use not typical rhythms and harmonies but they keep passion and techniques of brilliant Spanish style. In the repertoire ALMA has also a lot of classical pieces as well as jazz and blues oriented compositions. And very few of them they play as it should be. Most of pieces are arranged by musicians out of genre the compositions were written. Even classical pieces are adapted to contemporary tastes and rhythms. From this point of view the music of ALMA GUITAR DUO is interesting as for professionals as for youngsters and music lovers.
